Chelsea and Cardiff City are playing live on the English Premier League schedule on Survival Sunday and the team is not in line to beat either Man City or Liverpool in the EPL standings and the match for the Blues starts at 10 am ET at Cardiff City Stadium and comes from the NBC Sports Live extra website for the live stream and has Jose Mourinho's team looking to salvage some hope and head into next season with some momentum after falling out of contention.
The club had a scoreless draw against Norwich City last week to end the season at Stamford Bridge and that put them out of the mix for the EPL title with the Reds and Manchester City. Chelsea has an uncertain future with Ashley Cole, Frank Lampard and John Terry possibly leaving, but the manager Mourinho said that he feels they will be back and he said that he will do his best to ensure that they do stay. Cole has been upset after the way the season ended, but Terry is expected to stay and so are the other two. Liverpool is training by two points and basically they need Man City to lose for a chance and after the way they have played that is unlikely and after losing to Sunderland earlier, the last EPL win for the team was against Stoke City.
Chelsea comes into the match with Eden Hazard leading the team in scoring and he was sat down by Mourinho last weekend and that is one reason why the team lost and Hazard is also tops in assists, while Jordon Mutch has the same spot for Cardiff. The team has been a mess all year and Cardiff is getting relegated and they are in the bottom of the EPL and they come in after allowing 72 goals this season, which is more than Chelsea has scored. Chelsea comes in at third on the table and while the Champions League is nice, the team had a clear chance at the tiel and now that is off the table with how they have played down the stretch and that included the first loss for Mourinho at Stamford Bridge.
The team has 79 points on the season and even if they had been able to pull even with Man City and Liverpool, it likely would not have mattered, as they have a 43 goal difference and the other teams have 100 scored on the year. Chelsea has been in the mix for most of the year, but they fell out down at the end and now Mourinho has said that he thinks Manchester City striker Edin Dzeko should have been the winner of the EPL player of the year over Luis Suarez. One reason he said is because of how Suarez was suspended for biting a player and he said that was an issue that should have been involved and he also cited the loss of Sergio Aguero and that put even more pressure on him with Man City.
