Chicago Bears Score: 27-21 For Win Thursday Over Giants As New York Falls To 0-6 In NFL Standings

Oct 10, 2013 08:56 PM EDT

The New York Giants were terrible again and gave away another game with turnovers, losing 27-21 to the Chicago Bears to fall to 0-6 and now the season is basically over and the team is absolutely pathetic and the Bears are now 4-2.

The New York Giants were expecting to be contenders for the Super Bowl this season, but after getting off to a terrible start at 0-5, the rest of the season rests on the Thursday night football matchup against the Chicago Bears at Soldier Field on NFL network at 8:25 pm to kick off Week 6.

The Giants have not done anything particularly well this season apart from turning the ball over at a consistent rate and it appears that every little thing that has hurt the Giants over the past few years has become a big problem, as they have dealt with inconsistency in the running game, secondary and offensive line on a smaller scale, but now things have gone nuclear. The team is ranked last in the league in rushing and near the bottom in passing yards allowed per game and they have been terrible blocking for Eli Manning on the offensive line.

The Giants are under fire from all angles and now things will come down to a short week on the road against a team that is coming off two straight losses and looking to rebound as well. The Bears opened the year 3-0 and have lost consecutive games to the New Orleans Saints and Detroit Lions and they will be looking for a win on Thursday night as well. Marc Trestman has done a good job of overhauling the offense and Jay Cutler has looked more comfortable than he ever has after the team has given up just three sacks this season.

The Giants have not done a good job of getting pressure on the quarterback and coupled with the way the Bears offensive line is playing, it should be a good day once again for Jay Cutler. This season he is putting up some of his best numbers, ranking fifth in the league in touchdowns and he is coming off of a game where he passed for a season high 358 yards while completing over 70 percent of his passes without tossing a pick.

Eli Manning has not gotten any protection at all and while he has also made some terrible decisions, it's not all on him despite tossing over 10 interceptions. Manning has put up an impressive 1,482 yards, but the way he is playing has not been impressive at all for the Giants. Manning ranks eighth in the league in yards, but he is completing less than 55 percent of his passes with just eight touchdowns and he really needs to get going.

The rush game has been awful and David Wilson is leading the team with just 146 yards and he has scored only one touchdown this year and now he will be out for multiple games after suffering a neck injury. The team has Brandon Jacobs behind him and they also resigned Da'Rel Scott, who is second on the team with 56 yards, but neither back is averaging more than 3.5 yards per carry.

The receivers have been able to put up okay numbers with Manning, as Victor Cruz is leading the team with 31 catches for nearly 500 yards and four touchdowns, but none of that has translated into wins. Hakeem Nicks appears healthy for the first time in over a year and he has 21 catches for 372 yards and Manning needs to do a better job of protecting the ball.

The Giants will next play the Eagles before their bye and then have Oakland Green Bay and the Dallas Cowboys all at home before hitting the road against in Week 13 against the Redskins. The Giants will be playing the Bears on the NFL Network Thursday night at 8:25 PM.
