The Boston Marathon finished under chaotic circumstances on Monday as multiple explosions and possible bombs went off at the finish line, leaving two people confirmed dead any many others injured. 22 injured and 2 dead are confirmed as the FAA also put out a temporary flight restriction over the area in Copley Square.
People were left bloody near the finish line and some were reported as losing limbs and many people were injured and screaming near the finish line as the chaos erupted. The police have found secondary devices and put on a controlled explosion in the area meaning that there were other possible devices along the way.
Some runners and other spectators said the crowd was in chaos and people were running all over the place looking for medical attention and many victims were taken to Boston Medical Center for treatment after the explosions went off. Runners and people in the area were on lockdown as the authorities have tried to figure out what went on and a number of spectators were visibly shaken as people were taken away on stretchers and in ambulances.
Some people lost limbs and there were unconfirmed reports about more people being dead as well as more devices found in the area which the police were able to contain. Eye witnesses said that many victims were left bloodied by the blast and the area where the bombs went off near the headquarters and the hotel for the race were on lockdown also.
The Red Sox and Rays were playing earlier in the day and were finished by the time that the race explosions happened and it is still unclear what exactly has went down, but police and other authorities are in the area investigating the situation. The day in Boston is one of the most exciting for fans and spectators in the area and now the Marathon has made it into a tragic story and it is still unclear what has happened in the race.
The situation occurred after the elite athletes came through the finish line and many families and people cheering on their runners were the ones that were hurt in the initial blast. Other runners coming down to finish the race were led into a family meeting area that was part of the emergency plan for the race and there is still more information coming out about the incident and there may have been pipe bombs used in the explosions.
