Kansas City Chiefs Draft Rumors: Jarvis Jones and Dee Milliner Options As Team Mulls Possible Trade, Luke Joeckel or Eric Fisher Expected Picks

The Kansas City Chiefs had the worst record in the league last season at 2-14 and with the first overall pick in the NFL Draft in a couple weeks, the franchise has a chance to take a high-impact player that can contribute right away, including names like Luke Joeckel, Eric Fisher, Geno Smith or Dion Jordan.

According to ESPN.com, one area they may not look to draft early is at linebacker, as the team signed Zac Diles last week to a contract. Diles previously played six seasons in the NFL after being drafted out of Kansas State in the seventh round by the Houston Texans. Diles played in 67 games with 31 starts during that span while playing for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Tennessee Titans, Texans and the Indianapolis Colts.

Diles has made over 220 tackles and one sack with an interception during his career and he was a consistent player for the Wildcats, playing in 24 games after playing in 22 games the previous two seasons with Fresno City College. The Chiefs have made a number of moves so far this offseason after being one of the worst teams in the league, including trading for San Francisco 49ers backup quarterback Alex Smith for draft picks.

The Chiefs signed a number of free agents along with Diles, including wide receiver Dwayne Bowe to a five year contract, corner Sean Smith and tight end Anthony Fasano. The team also franchise d left tackle Branden Albert, who they may decide to trade in the time leading up to draft day due to the fact they have the number one overall pick. The team is looking at left tackles Luke Joeckel and Eric Fisher, who are considered to the top prospects at their position and could start right away in the NFL.

Many draft experts see the Chiefs taking Joeckel, as he is rated slightly higher than Fisher on most boards and he could be a simple fit into the Chiefs line, even if they decide to keep Albert. Joeckel could play at right tackle if the team doesn't trade Albert and both could provide Alex Smith with some solid protection, giving him time to get the ball to Bowe downfield.

Some other options for the team include Chance Warmack from Alabama, who could be the first guard taken in the top 10 in years. Some later options include a receiver like Robert Woods, or linebacker Manti Te'o, who could slip past some teams through the first round. The Chiefs were once though as possible options for Geno Smith after bringing him in for a visit, but are likely not to take a quarterback after a draft. The team went 2-14 last season and were ranked 32nd in the league in passing yards while also having a top five rushing attack in yards per game.
