The Miami Dolphins have been one of the most active teams in free agency this offseason after signing big names like Mike Wallace and Dannell Ellerbe among other names and the team could still be active ahead of the NFL draft at the end of April, as John Abraham and Eric Winston could join the team.

According to the Miami Herald, the Dolphins are interested in adding Abraham, who was cut by the Falcons earlier in the offseason and met with the Seahawks as well. Seattle was looking at Abraham to possibly replace Chris Clemons, who was injured in the playoffs last season after suffering a knee injury and he also made some dumb comments about players coming out as homosexual when reports surfaced. Although Abraham is getting up there in age, he made 10 sacks last season.

Abraham will be 35-years-old by the time the 2013 season starts and he could be an affordable addition for the Dolphins after bringing in Wallace, Ellerbe and cornerback Brent Grimes. The team will be looking at a number of positions in the upcoming draft, including at running back after losing Reggie Bush as well as tight end after losing Anthony Fasano.

Abraham still has talent despite his age and he was one of the top rated players at his position in 2012, forcing 56 pressured and 38 hurries while recording 10 sacks. The Dolphins could use to upgrade at defensive end and the team hasn't had two players with double digit sacks in nearly 10 years and they could have that with Cameron Wake, who had 15 sacks.

Over the past three season Abraham has registered double digit sacks in two out of three with 2011 bringing 9.5 and he also has been consistently healthy, playing in all but two games over that span, including in all 16 in 2012. Last season he had 10 sacks and in 2010 he had his best season in recent years with 13 sacks and two forced fumbles and over the past two seasons he has forced 10 more. Last season he had seven batted passes at the line and made 35 tackles.

The team could go after a number of players in the draft, including Lane Johnson, as well as Dee Milliner if he slips or Sharrif Floyd if he slips out of the top 10. The Dolphins finished 7-9 last season and 2-4 in the AFC East, losing three of their last five games, including a 28-0 shutout against New England in Week 17. The team ranked 26th in passing last season and 17th in rushing yards with over 110 per game. The team ranked 27th in passing yards and 13th in rushing yards allowed per game with over 105 yards and Abraham could help with that.
