The Boston Marathon had a tragedy occur as two bombs and explosions went off towards the end of the race at the finish line in Boston on the street as runners completed the race.

There were two loud explosions near the finish line when it appeared the bombs exploded and a number of runners were knocked to the ground after it went off, while others ran towards the finish line and away from the blast area. A number of spectators were injured and treated near the medical tents that were set up for runners and authorities are looking around the area for more possible devices and are keeping people indoors of restaurants and bars in the area.

The media hotel and runners headquarters are on lockdown and some victims were reported to have lost limbs while others were brought to area hospitals for treatment. The Associated Press Reports that many runners and competitors were running and crying as they fled the area and the 26.2 mile race was cancelled the rest of the way.

Authorities were in the area administering medical attention and sweeping the area for possible other devices and evidence and three hours after the main winners crossed the finish line was when it happened. Authorities have told people to go home if they can, but many people cannot leave yet and are waiting out the situation.

According to the police, at least 50 people were injured on the scene and many others are still on their way finishing the race as they were behind the blast. One blast took out windows in the area and about 10 seconds apart anther blast shook the area and cause a loud boom, surprising many people.
