The Cleveland Indians tried acquiring Shane Victorino and that failed, so now, the rumors have them working a deal to acquire the Arizona Diamondbacks' Justin Upton.

The Diamondbacks are in need of a shortstop, that is a position they are interested in filling in this offseason and they have made a clear point.

They have inquired about Elvis Andrus and in return the Texas Rangers attempted to trade for the Atlanta Braves' young shortstop Andrelton Simmons.

The Braves still haven't budged and the Rangers are not giving up Andrus, so it looks like the Diamondbacks  will move on.

The Indians have one of the finest fielding shortstops in the majors. Cabrera commits errors, but he always makes amazing plays that not many can duplicate. He looks like he gets lucky in some, but others he's simply improvising and playing off instincts.

What about Upton's contract?
Yeah, there is no problem at all because the money is there.

Unlike the Braves, who always seem to have restricted pockets, the Indians are able to give Upton the close to $39 million he is owed in the next three seasons.

It is rumored that the Indians offered Victorino a $44 million deal. So you know they have the money available.

For the Diamondbacks, aside from getting a great defensive player, they would receive  a decent hitting shortstop. Asdrubal has 41 homers in the past two seasons and will hit you around .270 in the season.

Asdrubal is a back-to-back All-Star and it is only a matter of time before he will win a Gold Glove at short.

They are both young and have a bright future in the majors.
