Everybody is wondering where Josh Hamilton is going this offseason and everybody has the Texas Rangers as the front runner. However, Ken Rosenthal doesn't have the New York Yankees out of the hunt for Hamilton as they will look add some power in their lineup.

I mean seriously, when are the Yankees ever out of conversations in relation to available big-time free agents?

I agree with Rosenthal, the Yankees are never out of the hunt in relation to offseason acquisitions. However, the Yankees' have hinted that they will not be overspending this offseason, so I highly doubt they would be serious about getting Hamilton.

Especially an injury prone Hamilton.

Look at their lineup and the players' pockets, Mark Teixeira is still worth $90 millions and he is injury prone, Derek Jeter is recovering and worth up to $25 million, Alex Rodriguez is having hip surgery and many are doubting a return leaving only Robinson Cano as their healthiest superstar along with Curtis Granderson.

Hamilton only missed 14 games in 2012, but in 2010 Hamilton played in 133 games and 121 games in 2011.

The Yankees probably only see an expensive player who will likely miss time, which they can't afford.

Upside to signing Hamilton?
Who can forget what Hamilton did in the Old Yankee Stadium, imagine if he were to play 81 games in the New Yankee Stadium?

He might be what he is as far as a risk, but there is no doubt that he can fill up the stadium as he can easily crank 50 homers in a season as a Yankee.

The Yankees will be dying for offense in 2012 and Hamilton can make the difference.

We also know the Yankees are trying to reduce their payroll and signing Hamilton will definitely not help fix that issue, but you also can't forget how well he hit against the Baltimore Orioles, who can be expected to once again compete in the A.L. East.

However, the Yankees might be desperate and for that reason you can't count them out of the Hamilton sweepstakes.
