2012 Winter Meetings Nashville: Day 2 MLB Trade Rumors and Free Agent Signing Updates at 9 a.m. ET

Dec 04, 2012 07:41 AM EST

The MLB Winter Meetings kicked off  Monday morning and the MLB Network crew was present in Nashville bringing us the latest from all the rumors. Tune in today for Day 2 of the meetings as rumors of possible signings and trades gain strength.

There are still big names swirling in the free agent market. The two main men teams could land are Zack Greinke and Josh Hamilton.

Both will require deep pockets, but eventually will find a suitor.

The Dodgers are expected to offer Greinke a deal as they are probably the only team who can afford the right hander.

As for Hamilton, it is a complete circus. The Phillies, Mariners, Brewers and Rangers are among those in the mix.

Here's a quick recap of DAY 1:

The Tampa Bay Rays wasted no time yesterday and made a small splash signing James Loney to take over their first base duties.

The Boston Red Sox then followed acquiring one of their desired players in Mike Napoli. He will also be taking over first base duties for his new club.

The San Francisco Giants didn't hesitate to thank their center fielder Angel Pagan as he took home a four-year deal worth $40 million.

Teams are scampering to sign guys like Shane VIctorino and Nick Swisher.

The New York Yankees have to consider possibly signing a third baseman now that Alex Rodriguez is out with a hip injury.

Again it will be interesting to see if the Yankees settle for their home grown talent Eduardo Nunez or if they will shop around for possible free agents.

The MLB Winter Meetings will continue until Thursday, but it does not mean that negotiations will cease.

Remember, last season, while Albert Pujols made a splash in the Winter Meetings, it was Prince Fielder who signed afterwards as his suitor remained a mystery.

It wasn't until Victor Martinez's injury that the Detroit Tigers stepped up and paid up.

The action begins at 9 a.m. ET on MLB Network. If you don't have the channel, don't worry, we will bring you the latest and biggest rumors swirling in Nashville.
