The Dallas Cowboys have quarterback Tony Romo in London working with the team and owner Jerry Jones expects his QB to start against the Jacksonville Jaguars after missing the game last week and he could be a game time decision, while DeMarco Murray, Dez Bryant and Jason Witten are all fantasy football options whether it's Romo or Brandon Weeden under center.
Tony Romo made the trip with the Cowboys to England and all expectations have him starting on Sunday despite dealing with a back injury and missing last week's game. According to ESPN.com, Romo practiced on Thursday and he looks like he will be ready to go and owner Jerry Jones said that he expects Romo to be starting the game against the Jaguars. Romo was hit in the back against the Washington Redskins on Monday night football and that forced him to miss the game last week.
Romo was able to participate in some drills earlier in the week and he was able to throw and also work in the walkthrough with the team. Jason Garrett and the team are planning on starting Romo, but they are ready with Brandon Weeden if the back injury keeps him out. Romo has not practiced much all season to keep his back fresh and the medical staff will have a major role in the decision on whether he plays or not this week.
Romo has been having a very strong season this year and he is about to pass 2000 yards and he comes into this week with 15 touchdowns and six interceptions this season. Romo is completing close to 70 percent of his passes and he is putting together a very sold year after he put up 31 touchdowns last season. DeMarco Murray has helped things along with his amazing MVP year and now Romo has the chance to continue things on Sunday if he starts.
Romo has not been over 300 yards since back in Week 5 and that was his only game over 300 this year, but it hasn't been an issue for the Cowboys. The team has not needed him to the "man" this season and the emergence of Murray has really taken some pressure off. Romo likely doesn't need to be in to beat the Jaguars, but if he is healthy he will be playing and this could be a key game for Romo and the Cowboys, especially if he somehow gets seriously injured. Romo is considered to be one of the toughest QBs in the league and he would prove it by playing on Sunday.
The Cowboys come into the game second in the NFC East just behind the Eagles and they are 6-3 on the season after losing to the Arizona Cardinals. The team has the Jaguars and then the Cowboys and they are the first ranked rushing team in the league. The Cowboys have lost two in a row since starting 6-1 and they have a tough stretch with four of the next five games on the road, including against NY, Chicago and Philadelphia after that. Romo is key for the Cowboys down the stretch, but they at least have Murray to rely on if he can't go.
