Atletico Madrid and Barcelona are playing on the Champions League schedule for their second leg match and it comes streaming online from Fox Sports and comes live from Vicente Calderon at 2:45 pm ET and the two Primera Division league teams will be looking for victory to move on to the semifinals on Wednesday.
Barca comes into the match after a win at home against Real Betis and that came after a draw against Atletico and now the two go against each other in the Champions League. The team plays against Real Madrid coming up in the Copa Del Rey at Mestalla and then at the Santiago Bernabeu and the two teams are battling in La Liga as well. Barcelona and Atletico Madrid finish the season at Estadio Camp Nou in La Liga play and that will be huge, as Atletico is at the top of the standings right now and they have a one point lead over Barca and a three point lead over Real Madrid.
Those three teams are at the top of the league table and Atletico has shown their dominance with the two, as they all have massive leads over everyone else in the table standings. Barcelona comes in after winning El Clasico a couple weeks ago against Real and now they will have a rematch of sorts with them in the Copa and coming down the line they have some difficult challenges to finish the season, including games against Athletic Bilbao and Elche and that will be away before the team returns to Estadio Camp Nou against Atletico. Atletico Madrid has played very well this season and they have been ahead of both Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi's clubs and now they push into the back stretch and they will play against Barca to end the season and that comes after matches against Levante and Malaga.
Xavi said before the match that the team understands how important this game is and the fact that they have been into the Champions League semifinals for six straight seasons puts even more pressure on now. The first match saw a 1-1 draw and with things going back to Atletico, they obviously have an advantage with the home match but Barca knows they have the firepower to win out. Barca has now won five league games in a row and that has been big for the team as they try to build some momentum heading into the final showdowns with Real and Atletico. The two sides are looking for aggressive play and neither team will let up until the match is over.
The match comes after Chelsea was able to win over PSG to advance to the semis, while Manchester United and Bayern Munich, the champs from last year, will also be playing Wednesday. The Blues advanced and so did Borussia Dortmund over Real Madrid with their victory at 2-0. The semis will get set with matches on Wednesday and that should make for another exciting round.
