The NCAA Tournament is live on radio and online from Turner and the college basketball March Madness tourney is streaming free for fans and Thursday has second round action for teams and the Pittsburgh Panthers are playing the Colorado Buffaloes at 1:40 pm ET and the matchup comes from the Amway Center in Florida.
The game starts up after the first two on the schedule with Ohio State taking on Dayton and Wisconsin playing against American University and those games have been great so far. The Pitt and Colorado game has the chance to be excellent since the seeds are so close and the eight nine games can often be a toss-up for fans trying to figure out who they should pick. Talib Zanna and Lamar Patterson have been the two best players for Pitt this season and they have been leading the way for the Panthers and for any chance at the team making a run, both will have to be excellent again.
Patterson led the team in scoring during the season and against Virginia in their loss in the ACC tournament and Zanna was solid with nine rebounds in that game and he was tops on the team in rebounding over Patterson. The two stars have the chance to take hold and bring the Panthers into the second round, or the third round, whatever the NCAA wants to call it. But honestly, should those play-in games be the "first round"? So teams that lose their first game made it into the "second round" it continues to make no sense and everyone knows the NCAA are greedy hypocrites, so why should they care what the round is called anyway.
Patters led the team in scoring ahead of Zanna during the season and he will be relied on once again to carry the team in the tournament, while Zanna was second on the team and his size will come in handy against a tough Colorado frontline. Zanna was best in rebounds over Patterson and he showed his skills all over the court, as Patterson was tops in assists as well and now the team will have to lock down on defense to ensure that the game stays close. The top seeds in the tournament are the Florida Gators, Wichita State Shockers, Virginia Cavaliers and Arizona Wildcats and three off four teams won their conference tournaments, while the Cats lost to the UCLA Bruins in the finals of that tournament.
