Luis Suarez Rumours: Liverpool Contract Talks Start Before January Transfer Window As Arsenal, Real Madrid, Chelsea Want Reds Star?

Liverpool striker Luis Suarez is having the best season of his career in the English Premier League and despite missing a handful of games, he leads the EPL in scoring and now news has come out that the Reds star has opening contract talks with the team and that could finally quiet clubs like Arsenal, Real Madrid and Chelsea from signing him.

Suarez had some issues with the club over the summer and a move looked like it could go down, but after rejecting a number of deals, including one for 40 million from Arsenal, the two sides appear poised to strike and agreement. According to ESPNFC.com, the Guardian is reporting that director Ian Ayre is meeting with Suarez's agent Pere Guardiola to start up negotiations on an extension and that could stop any more talk of transfer rumors, as Arsenal and Real Madrid were interested in Suarez over the summer.

The 26-year-old appears to be at the top of his game right now and he previously came over and signed a 22.8 million pound deal from Ajax in January back in 2011 and now is under contract through 2016. Suarez and his future were speculated on a great deal over the summer and he said that he wanted to leave Liverpool, but after scoring 17 goals in 11 games after missing the first five, it appears that Suarez is happy with the Reds. The club is clearly happy with Suarez, as his antics have died down on the pitch and they have him the captain's arm band on Sunday with Steven Gerrard out and he came through with two goals in the match against Tottenham in the 5-0 win.

Liverpool is in second place on the Premier League table and they are just two back of Arsenal after the Gunners lost and Arsenal were the team chasing Suarez the most, as they offered 40 million pounds to get the release clause in his contract and while Real was interested, they did not make a bid.
