Julio Cesar Chavez Jr Next Fight: Date and Opponent as Mexican Boxer and Son of Legend Set to Enter Ring

Julio Cesar Chavez, the son of Mexican boxing legend Chavez Sr, has a fight coming up. It will be another top ranked Mexican boxer hitting the ring following last week's extravaganze. Mexicans continue to rule the sport and Chavez Jr. will attempt to get back to his winning ways as his fight will take place next week. What date is the fight? Who will Chavez Jr. fight? Date: Saturday, Sept. 28

Opponent: Brian Vera

Vera and Chavez Jr. hook up in a battle of super middleweights. Chavez Jr. will try to bounce back after a loss and controversy. Chavez Jr. lost the first bought of his career last September when Sergio Martinez defeated via unanimous decision. Chavez Jr. trying rallying late in the bought, fighting in an exciting 12th Round. He could not put the finishing touches on Martinez and ultimately, losing the match, blemishing his career forever.

In Vera, Chavez Jr. will be boxing an older opponent with less experience. Vera is coming of four consecutive victories. The latest, back in March, saw Vera destroy the left eye of his opponent, Donatas Bondorovas of Lithuania. The fight went to Vera on a referee technical decision. In another fight, two months before, Vera took Sergiy Dzinkziruk to the 10th round where he eventually knocked the Ukrainian down. Dzinkziruk saw the ring three times in that fight, plus took home a banged up left eye as well.

In comparison, Chavez Jr. is the heavier puncher. He's knocked down 65 pecent of his opponents, while Vera has recorded knockouts in 48 percent of his bouts.

The fight will take place in California, where Chavez Jr. should have the home crowd backing him up.
