EPL Transfer News: Tottenham Wanted Me the Most, Says Christian Eriksen as Dane Explains Decision Behind Signing for Spurs

New Tottenham signing Christian Eriksen said Spurs showed the "right intent" to bring him to the English Premier League.

Eriksen completed his switch from Ajax late in the transfer window, after being heavily linked over the last couple of seasons with the likes of Arsenal, Manchester United, Manchester City and Liverpool.

The Danish international said he had a few offers from clubs, but Tottenham's desire to bring him to White Hart Lane, tilted the balance in their favor.

"There were not that many clubs to choose from in the end and no-one were closer than Tottenham," he told Danish newspaper BT.

"There were a lot of rumors, but I only felt right about the approach from Tottenham. The club followed me for a long time and really showed intent.

"It was the whole package that attracted me. I spoke briefly with the manager and my impression is that he is a very good manager.

"The goal is to challenge for the title. That is what the club wants and that is what I want."

Much is expected of Eriksen, who was not eligible to play in the 1-0 North London Derby loss to Arsenal last weekend, but the 21-year-old admitted he will take some time to acclimatize himself with life in the Premier League.

"I might need to acclimatize, so I am not expecting to play all the games," he added. But then I don't know what the manager has planned for me.

"From the conversations I have had, they have indicated that they see me as an attacking midfielder, a creative player.

"They have also told me that you are expected to fight for a spot on the team because there are a lot of good players here. But, of course, I hope things will fall to my advantage."
