Arsenal Transfer News: Cesc Fabregas, Joachim Low Surprised at Real Madrid's Decision to Sell Mesut Ozil

Germany national team manager Joachim Low cannot believe Real Madrid agreed to let go of Mesut Ozil, calling the decision to sell the playmaker to Arsenal "incomprehensible."

Ozil completed a club record £42.5 million ($66.3 million) transfer to Arsenal on deadline day, with several Real Madrid players expressing their disappointment at seeing one of their best players leave the club.

Low joined that particular bandwagon, slamming Real for selling the talented 24-year-old.

"Many Real players like Sami Khedira or Cristiano Ronaldo are sad about the transfer," Low, who is with the Germany squad as they prepare for a World Cup qualifier against Austria, said.

"For me, it's incomprehensible that Real would sell one of their top scorers."

Low, however, dies feel the move to Arsenal, which was facilitated by German team manager Oliver Bierhoff, is good not only for the player's career but the national team as well.

"I think that Mesut is a sensitive player who needs a lot of trust from the club and the coach," Low added.

"What I've heard the last days before this transfer, is that this trust had disappeared in Madrid. Arsenal and Wenger put a lot of effort in to get him, which did him, of course, a lot of good.

"That's why I think personally for us, for the national team, it's a good transfer. Arsenal is a good club, with a top manager and also with two German teammates, (Lukas) Podolski and (Per) Mertesacker.

"Arsenal also play great football, technically on a high level, and I think that plays into Mesut's game."

Meanwhile, former Arsenal captain Cesc Fabregas also expressed his surprise at Real's decision to let Ozil leave the Bernabeu.

"I was really surprised by Ozil's departure," Fabregas said. "He seemed to me to be the second-best player at Madrid, after Cristiano (Ronaldo). He'll be great for Arsenal."
