Will Tyler Wilson, Matt McGloin and Tim Tebow Make 53-Man Roster For Oakland Raiders and Patriots?

The NFL deadline for cutting down from 90 players to 75 was on Tuesday at 4 pm and the next big deadline for teams to release players in on Saturday at 6 pm, when all 32 teams in the league must have their 53-man rosters set for the season starting the following week.

Some players that are on the cusp of making their teams include Tim Tebow, Tyler Wilson and Matt McGloin, all interesting options at quarterback. For the Patriots, Tebow did not play in the third preseason game and that could be a bad sign for him, as the Patriots cut their third stringer last year after that happened, but Tim is not like any other player out there and despite the fact that Bill Belichick likes to make value out of every roster spot, he still may keep Tebow.

The team signed him to a two year deal and can't stash him on the practice squad and that could mean that he will stay on. Ryan Mallett is the clear backup for Tom Brady after he played basically the whole game against Detroit after he came out and Belichick likes how he has handled himself over the past few years since being drafted. Tebow was signed after he was released by the Jets and that could play a part, but he didn't look all that great in the preseason, although the team has said he has been working hard in practice. He will be a player to watch as the team goes up against the New York Giants on Thursday night.

Wilson could also be a casualty despite being a fourth round pick by the Raiders, as Terrelle Pryor and Matt McGloin have looked good in the preseason and with Matt Flynn as the starter, it could mean that Wilson is expendable. Wilson was being looked at as a potential starter, but the team knows he won't be that this year and with Pryor as the backup, the team and Reggie McKenzie have some decisions to make.

McGloin came in as an undrafted rookie and has impressed the team and coach Dennis Allen. The Raiders went just 4-12 last season and it will be interesting to see who they decided to let go of when getting down to the 53-man rosters.
