The New England Patriots and the NFL were met with an interesting piece of press on Wednesday, as Aaron Hernandez and the events surrounding his life and the murder case he is involved in was profiled for the magazine and the article includes plenty of new revelations and details, including issues between Hernandez and his mother Terri that may have helped lead him to where he is today.

Previous reports in the media wrote that Terri Hernandez once was charged with helping to run a gambling ring years ago and while that isn't murder, clearly his family is not immune to crime issues and other things like that. The Daily Mail reported that she helped take bets over the phone for various sporting events, although she was never prosecuted. The article from Rolling Stone offers many details and problems in the relationship with Hernandez and his mother, including how she allegedly cheated on his father Dennis with a man named Jeffery Cummings, who they describe as a violent drug dealer.

Hernandez's father Dennis died from a medical operation that did not go well, and many cite that moment as when things started to truly break bad for Hernandez in his life, as he was without the man he looked up to so greatly. The article details the early relationship between Terri and Dennis, writing that she was a school secretary and also described Dennis and his brother from Bristol as troublemakers and an athlete and also mentions that they muscled dealers for cash and drugs and he was also busted once for burglary.

Dennis and Terri had Aaron and his brother DJ as children, with DJ being the elder brother, who now works for Iowa as an assistant coach. A source said that Terri brought plenty of drama home for Hernandez and that she also was involved in a gambling ring and then a few years after that she picked up on cheating on Dennis with Jeffery Cummings, who was a coke dealer that was married to Dennis' niece, Tanya Cummings. The article said that he was abusive and violent and that there once was an issue at a UConn game where she was slapped by her niece, supposedly after finding out.

Dennis later passed away after dealing with a hernia operation that went wrong and Hernandez was heartbroken from it and in a USA Today story, his mother said that he wasn't the same anymore. One reason may have been because she allowed Cummings to move into the home where Aaron lived and there was drama with that too, as police said that there was drama, including when Cummings was arrested and slashed Terri's face and also cut her body and he ended up being charged with assault and went to prison, although sources said Terri eventually took him back after.

Eventually Aaron became close with his cousin Tanya, the one in jail for contempt right now, as both were dealing with the same things. She lived with his father's brother-in-law, Uncle Tito, and that may have been where the trouble began, as the area was not so great and eventually Tanya started to hang out with Ernest Wallace and T.L. Singleton, who she later married. Of course Wallace would end up being arrested for the Odin Lloyd murder with Hernandez.
