The WGC-Bridgestone Invitational has been all about Tiger Woods over the past three days and as the final round starts up on Sunday, the number one golfer in the world holds a commanding lead over the field at 15 under par and he is seven shots ahead of Henrik Stenson at eight shots under in Akron.
Woods has been playing some fantastic golf at Bridgestone and he has the chance to win the tournament for the eighth time in his career and it would match the record he already has for the eight at Bay Hill and it also ties him again with Sam Snead. Woods is 41-2 when holding a lead after 54 holes in PGA Tour events and now he has a commanding lead as he has to just hold steady to win the championship. Woods is a 15 under 195 on the tournament and he put in a 61 in the second round to tie his career best score and he finished with a two under 68 to keep things at bay on Saturday after another solid day on the greens and off the tee.

Stenson is behind at 67 and said it would be near impossible to defeat Woods with that lead and he held onto his seven stroke lead with his play on Sunday. Woods would win for the fifth time on tour this year, more than any other player and it would bring him closer to the all-time PGA record for wins as his 79th would be close to Snead's 82 record. Woods almost ended up with a record 59 after the way he played to start the second round and he settled for a 61 after missing a couple shots on some tough holes.
Woods is shaping back into form at the right time, as the PGA Championships are next week at Oak Hill and if he can continue playing like this, he should be able to finally break his major championship drought to add a 15th title to his resume. Woods has not won a major since 2008 at the US Open and he has missed out on the last 17 and if he doesn't start winning them soon, the all-time record that seemed all but his at 18 will slip away. Jason Dufner is in third on the leaderboard, while Luke Donald and Bill Haas aren't far behind.
Keegan Bradley is the defending champion at the tournament and he slipped after being part of the top of the leaderboard in the first two rounds and he will need a miracle to get back on top, as will anyone trying to get ahead of Woods. The top 10 has a number of top players in the hunt, including Adam Scott, who won the Masters and the 2011 tournament. Woods has had a number of big leads heading into the final round of a tournament in his career, including at the 2000 US Open when he had a 10 hole lead and in 2000 at the Bridgestone when he had a nine hole lead, tied for his 2007 performance at the Masters.
