Former Washington Redskins running back Tim Hightower, who was scheduled to make a free-agent visit to the New York Giants in early April, has rescheduled and is expected to arrive at the Meadowlands arena on Wednesday, according to the New York Daily News.

Hightower, 26, the once-promising back who totaled 23 touchdowns in his first three seasons, hasn't played in the NFL since tearing his ACL in Oct., 2011.

If he passes a physical and workout with the Giants, it's possible he could receive an invitation to attend the Giants "rookie camp" on May 10-11, where veterans trying to keep their careers alive are often invited.

If everything pans out for the better, Hightower may be too good to pass up by the Giants. He was a standout part-time running back with the Arizona Cardinals from 2008-2010, but was traded to the Redskins in exchange for defensive end Vonnie Holiday and a draft pick before the 2011 season. He later won the starting job that year in training camp.

Unfortunately, by his fifth start - after 84 carries and 321 yards - he tore his left ACL. He attempted to make a comeback with the Redskins last summer, but made only one preseason appearance, where he rushed for five carries and 28 yards. He was later cut in training camp.
