The Washington Redskins are expected to cut Robert Griffin III this offseason and if that happens, teams like the Dallas Cowboys, Philadelphia Eagles, Cleveland Browns, Houston Texans and New Orleans Saints could be potential landing spots for the quarterback.

Griffin was inactive for most of the season for the Redskins and while he has a fifth year option for 2016, the team is likely not going to pay it. Jay Gruden started Kirk Cousins in favor of Griffin and Cousins ended up leading the Redskins to the playoffs and likely will get a new contract this offseason. Griffin is set to make $16.155 million next season and according to Ian Rapoport at NFL.com, the Redskins will cut RG3 before the next league year begins.

Griffin had a meteoric rise in Washington and his fall was just as fast, as he had a great rookie season and then dealt with injuries and inconsistent play over the next two years. Griffin's future is likely done in Washington, but he is still young and has potential to develop as a starter. Griffin likely will either end up as a backup QB for a team next season or be put in a situation where he can compete to start. Earlier in the season NFL.com reported that the Eagles, Cowboys, Saints and Texans could be potential landing spots for the quarterback.

The Cowboys could be a landing spot for Griffin, as the team is looking for a solid backup for Tony Romo and could go after Griffin or Johnny Manziel over someone in the draft. According to Yahoo Sports, Charles Robinson writes that Griffin would "love" to end up in Dallas if he is released by the Redskins. The Cowboys saw last season what it's like to not have much of a plan at backup quarterback and while Griffin still needs development, he could be a nice fit behind Romo.

The Eagles may lose Sam Bradford in free agency and if that happens new head coach Doug Pederson could go after Griffin. Pederson had a mobile quarterback in Kansas City with Alex Smith and Griffin could be an option to step in. The Texans are looking for more competition at quarterback after using four different starters this season and Griffin also could be an option there. Hue Jackson wants a new QB in Cleveland over Johnny Manziel and while the team likely will draft someone, adding Griffin also could be an option.

The Redskins are almost guaranteed to keep Cousins and release Griffin, as the team can use the franchise tag on Cousins if a deal is not reached.
