The Dallas Cowboys are currently in position for a top 10 pick in the 2016 NFL draft and this year Jerry Jones could try and bring in a future replacement for Tony Romo. Players like Paxton Lynch, Jared Goff, Connor Cook, Cody Kessler and Cardale Jones could be options at QB, while names like Joey Bosa, Ezekiel Elliott and Laquon Treadwell could be targets.

The Cowboys have had a tough season while dealing with injuries to Tony Romo and Dez Bryant and that could push Jerry Jones to seriously start thinking about the future for the quarterback. The Cowboys are 4-10 and in position for a top five pick and they could move up or down depending on how the standings play out over the final weeks. Jones said to the Dallas Morning News last week that the team will be in position for a top pick and that they have to "take advantage" of having a high selection.

The Cowboys will be in position to get a top prospect even if it's not a quarterback in the first round, as this year the draft is fairly deep with talent. The Titans and Browns are in position to get top picks and Cleveland could go for a quarterback like Lynch or Goff, but players like Joey Bosa, Myles Jack and Laremy Tunsil are consider to be top options as well. Treadwell had a strong season and could be a target for the team to pair with Bryant moving forward.

The Cowboys season was basically derailed by the fact that they did not have a good enough backup quarterback and while a rookie player may not have saved the team, they may have played better than the group of Matt Cassel, Brandon Weeden and Kellen Moore. The Cowboys biggest weakness was not being able to win games with Romo out and now Jones could use having a high pick to his advantage to take a quarterback.

While the team would be happy to get someone like Bosa or Elliott, if Goff or Lynch is available, there is a chance they could go after them. Elliott would not be a bad option either, as the team has had some issues at running back as well. Darren McFadden has been very solid overall this season, but the team ditched Joseph Randle, got rid of Christine Michael and never really was able to replace what DeMarco Murray did last season.

If the Cowboys pass on taking a quarterback in the first round, it doesn't mean they will avoid taking one later on. The QB class is fairly deep this year and players like Kevin Hogan, Trevone Boykin, Dak Prescott, Connor Cook and Vernon Adams could be potential targets in the later rounds.
