The World Series is set for Game 5 on Sunday night and the Kansas City Royals can win the championship over the New York Mets 4-1 with a victory. The Mets are hoping to put the series at 3-2 with a victory to send it back to Kansas City for Game 6.

UPDATE: The Royals have won the World Series

The Mets come in after losing Game 4 in tough fashion, as the team allowed three runs in the eighth inning and went down 5-3 and could not come back to win. Tyler Clippard took the loss for the Mets and Ryan Madson was the winning pitcher, while Wade Davis recorded the save. The Mets had two errors in the game and the win set up the Royals to win the World Series on Sunday night with a victory.

Michael Conforto had two home runs for the Mets, but that was not enough for the team to pull out the victory. The Mets come into the game down 3-1 and they are trying to force a Game 6 on Tuesday if they can victory on Sunday night. Edinson Volquez and Matt Harvey will be on the mound in a rematch of the pitching duel in Game 1, which went to the Royals in 14 innings.

Volquez left the team to be with his family for the funeral of his father and he returned on Saturday to New York for the Game 4 victory. Steven Matz started the game for the Mets and pitched well, but an error in the eighth inning by Daniel Murphy set up the Royals for another comeback victory. The team has been resilient all postseason and now the tea is in position to finish off the World Series.

The Royals have a team mostly intact from last year when Kansas City lost to the San Francisco Giants in seven games. The Royals have not won the World Series since 1985, while the Mets have not won since the 1986 season. The Mets face tough odds coming back from 3-1, but it has happened before and funny enough the last one was the 1985 Royals against the St. Louis Cardinals. The Mets will be looking to at least force a Game 6 with a victory at home at Citi Field Sunday.
