Parker was the Dolphins first round draft pick."

The Miami Dolphins are hoping to sign Ryan Tannehill to a contract extension this offseason after picking up his fifth year option and this comes as the team could consider a Dion Jordan trade in the future after he was hit with a suspension and as DeVante Parker and Jay Ajayi have established themselves as potential starters in offseason workouts.

The Dolphins missed the playoffs last season and now there is a great deal of pressure on Joe Philbin to get the team to the postseason. The Dolphins signed Ndamukong Suh and were one of the most active teams this offseason, trading away Mike Wallace and adding Kenny Stills, Greg Jennings and Jordan Cameron on offense. Tannehill is coming off of his best season and he has some new names to get used to in training camp on offense.

According to the Miami Herald, Jordan's future in Miami is "in doubt" after his suspension and it comes after the team previously shopped him in trades. The reports says that the Philadelphia Eagles were interested in a deal and the trade would have given the team a conditional round draft pick. Jordan was suspended for violating the league's substance-abuse policy and this comes after he has been a major disappointment for the team since being drafted.

Miami traded up into the top five for Jordan and he has now been a consistent player, putting up just three sacks in 26 games players over two seasons. Jordan was his best when he was at Oregon with Chip Kelly and that likely sparked the Eagles' interest. The Dolphins may not find any takers now, but after the way things have progressed, the Miami Herald writes that it would not be a surprise to see Jordan on the trading block next offseason.

The Dolphins have high hopes for this rookie class after adding DeVante Parker and Jay Ajayi, as the team feels both players can step up into contributing roles. Jarvis Landry is coming back after a promising rookie season and now the Dolphins have another explosive option at wide receiver. The team is deep at the position now after adding Kenny Stills, Greg Jennings and Parker to the mix and they already have Landry and Rishard Matthews.

The team also drafted Tony Lippett out of Michigan State and he is making the transition from wide receiver to cornerback. Philbin said that the team really liked the ball skills of Lippett and that his tracking and route running ability should help him play corner in the NFL. The Dolphins defense needs to be more consistent and if the team can get that from that side of the ball, the playoffs are a very real possibility. Ajayi could end up getting some significant time next to Lamar Miller, as the Tannehill could use a more consistent rushing game.

The Miami Herald reports that the team is looking to sign Tannehill to an extension and it could be around $100 million over seven years. The Patriots have Tom Brady out for four games (for now) and if the punishment holds or even goes down to two games, that is something the team can take advantage of. Even if the Dolphins don't end up winning the division, having Brady out is a positive for the team within the AFC East.
