Buffalo Bills Rumors: Mike Glennon Trade Option, Brett Hundley, Bryce Petty, Garrett Grayson Draft Targets Over EJ Manuel, Matt Cassel?

The Buffalo Bills may consider a Mike Glennon trade this offseason to upgrade at quarterback over EJ Manuel and Matt Cassel and this comes as names like Brett Hundley, Bryce Petty, Garrett Grayson and Taylor Kelly could be potential targets for Doug Whaley in the NFL draft this year.

The Bills are coming into the season with high expectations after hiring Rex Ryan and after the failure to develop Manuel, the team could look for another prospect. According to Pro Football Talk, Whaley spoke about drafting a quarterback this year and he said that there could be some quality names in the second and third rounds. PFT writes that the team is "not trading up" for anyone after trading up for Sammy Watkins last year, which leaves names like Petty, Garrett Grayson and Hundley as targets.

The Bills also could look at Glennon, as ESPN reports that the Buccaneers may trade the backup quarterback if they take Jameis Winston number one overall. If the Bills miss out on the QB they want in the draft, the team could look at Glennon as an option. The ESPN reports says that if Glennon is traded, it likely would come after the draft. The Jets also could be in the mix, as they want Marcus Mariota but could go after Glennon if that doesn't work out.

The Bills drafted Manuel a couple years ago, but he has not developed into the player they were hoping he would. There is still time, but right now he is not considered an option to start unless he improves greatly over the summer. Ryan has put his stamp on the team and he thinks they can make the playoffs. The Bills added LeSean McCoy and signed Percy Harvin while also trading for Matt Cassel, but they could look at other options at QB.

Players like Jameis Winston and Marcus Mariota are off the table, but there is a deep class of QBs this season and that could lead Whaley to make a mid-round selection. Hundley is an interesting option, as he is a dual threat and put up some great numbers at UCLA. Grayson is moving up draft boards, as he has the measurables and was strong while playing inferior competition at Colorado State. Petty looks like the consensus number three QB and he could be off the board by the time the Bills select.

Whaley said that the team will be active in looking for quarterbacks and Hundley could be a potential fit, as some scouts see him as a top 10 talent. Last year Hundley likely would have went high if he came out of the draft and Adam Schefter reports that Browns are "very interested in Hundley" this year. Grayson has worked out with the Jets and his size at 6-foot-2, 220 pounds makes him a strong target for teams.

The Buccaneers likely will trade Glennon if they take Winston and ESPN reports that he could be had for a "mid round pick" which is likely a third round pick. The Bills could look at that as a better option than drafting a QB, as Glennon has been very solid in his limited playing time in Tampa Bay. Last season he played in six games and the previous year he played in 13 games and he has a strong 29-to-15 touchdown to interception ratio in his career.
