The Memphis Grizzlies and New York Knicks are playing live on the NBA schedule on Monday night and the matchup from Madison Square Garden starts up at 7:30 pm ET as Marc Gasol leads his team into the Big Apple and NY will be looking to continue their slide into the draft lottery as the season starts winding down.

The Grizzlies come into the game with 49 wins this season and they are first in the southwest division. The Grizzlies have been one of the best teams in the west and Gasol is having a career season, putting up 17 points and eight rebounds per game. Gasol should get some MVP consideration, although he won't win and he could end up in a new uni next year. The Knicks will be looking to target him, while the Grizzlies will try and keep their star.

The team comes in ranked second in the league in points allowed and they are 17th in scoring and they will be playing the Cavs next. That matchup could be a playoff preview for the finals, as Memphis has the chance to win the west. The team has been to the west finals and while the Warriors are the top team, they have not proven they can win in the postseason yet. The Grizz come in after win against the Trail Blazers and they got 11 rebounds from Tony Allen, while Jeff Green led in points with 23 in the game.

Mike Conley has played very well this year and he comes in after putting up nine assists and he has been one reason why the team is in first place this year. The Knicks have been a mess by design and they are creeping up to their worst record as a franchise ever. The team wants a top pick in the draft and they are doing a good job of it, as they have just 14 wins this season. The team comes in ranked 29th in scoring and 23rd in points allowed.

The Knicks last lost to the Raptors and they got 24 points from Lance Thomas and eight assists from Shane Larkin as the B team takes over at the end. The team hosts the Clippers on Wednesday and that will be another chance to lose against one of the top teams in the west. Carmelo has been out since the break and now the Knicks are trying to finish the way they are expected to finish.

The Grizzlies have been very strong at home, but they have lost four of the last six on the road, but they weren't playing the Knicks in those games. The team comes with a chance to close things on top of the west, as they are in second place by over two games and they have the chance to lock in that spot heading into the playoffs with a strong finish this season.
