Washington Wizards Rumors: Bradley Beal Contract Priority Before Kevin Durant Free Agent Run In 2016?

Nov 28, 2014 09:18 AM EST

The Washington Wizards have been off to a strong start this season and the team has done that mostly without Bradley Beal due to an injury, but the franchise realizes how important Beal is to the future of the team and reports have come out that the Wiz could be willing to sign the guard to a max extension to ensure he stays in DC.

Beal is just 21 years old and he had a strong season last year and since he has come back from injury the team has gone 2-2. The Wizards were 7-2 without Beal and the team is currently in first place in the southeast division. Beal is eligible to get a contract extension next season and that would begin in the 2016-17 campaign and a max extension for the guard would be at five years and over $110 million, according to Pro Basketball Talk.

The Wizards are 9-5 this season and they are first place in the division and they will next play against the New Orleans Pelicans before a matchup with the Miami Heat. The Kevin Durant talk is all speculation but many think the Wizards will make a hard run at the Thunder star once he hits the free agent market.
