The Indianapolis Colts suffered a tough loss on Sunday night against the Patriots and now they may have lost their top running back, as reports have Ahmad Bradshaw suffering a broken ankle in the game and that is tough news for fantasy football owners and makes Trent Richardson a strong pickup and starter for Week 12.

Andrew Luck and the Colts lost to the Patriots coming out of their bye week and now Richardson will take over as the top back if Bradshaw can't continue this season. According to ESPN.com, it is very likely that Bradshaw suffered a broken ankle and while the team is waiting medical test results, the initial diagnosis is not good. Bradshaw has been the most effective back for the Colts this season and losing him for any period of time is a big hit for the offense.

The Colts lost 42-20 in the game against the Patriots and Bradshaw may now need surgery. ESPN.com reported that Bradshaw was in a boot with crutches after the injury and now he could be on his way to surgery and that would be a big hit for the Colts. Bradshaw has been having a great season for the Colts and he is three TD catches away from setting a record for RBs. This season Bradshaw has 425 yards rushing along with 38 catches for 300 yards and six TDs. Bradshaw has been a safety net for the Colts and he has also taken pressure off Trent Richardson.

Bradshaw was leading the team in rushing and he has been excellent out of the backfield, making at least two catches in every game this year. Last week he had 50 yards on the ground and another 29 in the air, but against the Pats he had just 11 touches and ended up with 11 yards. Richardson comes in after rushing for seven carries for zero yards against the Pats and now he will be elevated into a starting role. Richardson has not been great this season, but he has played better than last year and now has nearly 400 yards and 22 catches for another 200 yards.

The Colts have a tough schedule to end the season and they now face the Jaguars and Redskins in two easy games before a tough end. The team has three of four on the road and they travel to play the Browns, Cowboys and Titans, with the latter two the last games of the year. The team also has a home game against the Texans and while they are leading the division, those final matchups could tip the scales.
