Ray Allen is the top NBA free agent, but he isn't planning on signing until midseason and now Quincy Miller, formerly from the Nuggets, is reportedly a target for the LA Lakers, Houston Rockets, Indiana Pacers and Miami Heat, as Los Angeles needs some support to help Kobe Bryant and Jeremy Lin on offense after Steve Nash was lost for the season.

According to Pro Basketball Talk, Miller is a target for a number of teams this season, including the Rockets, Lakers and Pacers, as Miller is a free agent after the Nuggets cut him loose before the season. Miller was a roster casualty for the Nuggets and now he is getting some attention from teams and the Lakers could be one to make a move. The Lakers have already lost Steve Nash and Julius Randle and they could use all the help they can get on offense.

RealGM reports that the Lakers are the team out in front of the deal for Miller, even as they don't have room on the roster and need some support. The report also says that the Rockets and Pacers are interested, but that the Lakers have shown the most interest of the three teams. Pro Basketball Talk writes that all three teams have played that they could waive, as they each have someone on a partially guaranteed contract.

The Lakers likely would waive Ronnie Price or Wayne Ellington to get it done and this mirrors what the team did last season while adding Kendall Marshall, who actually played pretty well for the Lakers. Miller isn't a superstar, but he can be a solid contributor and he comes in with solid three point shooting and defense. Miller was a second round pick a couple years ago buy the Nuggets and he did not play much for the team and now he could be in the mix for the Lakers.

Miller was released at the end of training camp and he is a young player at 21 and could have a chance to develop with some playing time. The Lakers could find minutes for him with how bad they are and with the injuries they have it could be a worthwhile option. The Lakers come into the week at 0-4 on the season and looking for their first win and they have been getting beaten badly, as they are ranked 30th in the league in points allowed per game. The team is averaging over 101 points and while Kobe has played well, he needs much more for this team to be any good.
