The 2014 Breeders Cup is live on Friday and Saturday and the horse races are streaming online and on TV from the NBC Sports Network and NBCSN Live Extra website from Santa Anita Park as 13 races go down over the next two days and some of the horses include California Chrome, Tonalist and Cigar Street for the Cup Classic race and that matchup will be on NBC on Saturday night.
California Chrome had the hearts of everyone this year and while the horse did not win the Triple Crown, things could end up in the right place here at the Breeders. The schedule begins with races on Friday night and those will open up at 5 pm ET on the NBC Sports Network and will continue with coverage until 8 pm. Things pick up on Saturday at 3:30 pm ET and has coverage on NBCSN and then the Classic will be on NBC and that coverage picks up from 8 pm to 9 pm for the main race.
Tonalist comes in after winning the Belmont and it played spoiler for Chrome in that race and now the horse is one of the favorites and is one to watch on Saturday. Chrome comes in at a 4-1 favorite and of course after the great year that will be one to watch. Tonalist won four of the seven starts in 2014 and also placed or showed in the other three and he will be a main challenger for the race.
California Chrome comes in with the Triple Crown chance behind them and while they won two of three, he now has the chance to cap off a big year. The horse did not have a great performance in the Pennsylvania Derby and finished out in sixth place, but this still could be a major day for CC at the race on Saturday.
Handsome Mike will be out of the Breeders' Cup Dirt Mile with a leg injury and that was late news from earlier in the week and now the race had to adjust with that coming down. Earlier in the week Free as a Bird was scraped from the Breeders' Cup Turf Sprint and that has now happened to a number of horses coming in. The Breeders is the annual series that ends the year and Friday will have a number of races, including the Breeders' Cup Juvenile Turf and things will be going down October 31 and November 1 Santa Anita Park.
The coverage for the races will be on the NBC Sports Network on Friday night and then on Saturday things will pick up early for that and the late race on Saturday will be on NBC. That is the big race and the one everyone is looking out for at the Breeders.
