The New York Jets have been dreadful this season and with the trade deadline coming up, there is a chance the team could make some moves and names like David Harris, Jeff Cumberland, Calvin Pace and Chris Johnson all could be potential targets for teams and this comes after Geno Smith struggled hard against the Bills, turning the ball over and getting benched.

According to Jason La Canfora at CBS Sports, the Jets may look at trading some of their veteran players, as that could help clear even more cap space for next offseason. The team has lost seven straight and their lone win was over the winless Raiders and now GM John Idzik, who just brought in Percy Harvin, could look at making another deal or two. Harris was mentioned as an option, as he is making nearly $5 million and there are a number of teams that could be interested.

La Canfora writes that the Chargers, 49ers and Cardinals all have issues on D and a player like Harris could come in and help after injuries. Harris is a veteran that plays hard and he is heading towards free agency anyway, so getting a pick could be worth it. The Jets could use some more draft picks, although John Idzik has had like 19 and only made one decent pick with Sheldon Richardson, so maybe building up picks isn't such a hot idea. While selling isn't the best move in all situations, here it probably is a good idea.

Harris has been one of the most consistent players for the Jets over the years and he has played in all eight games this season and has 64 total tackles to go along with two sacks. Harris has not missed a game since back in the 2008 season and that should make him a target for teams in need of a linebacker deal, like the Chargers or the Niners. Pace has also been healthy over the past three seasons and this year he has 3.5 sacks and 24 total tackles and he also could be a target after signing a veteran deal this offseason.

The Jets already have cap space and now that they have added Percy Harvin to the mix they could clear more for next offseason. The team is 1-7 and they looked awful on Sunday and making some moves could work out down the line, as they could be in position to take a top quarterback again. The team loves Geno Smith for whatever reason they do and while they want him to be a star, he has not been that at all and now he has been benched for Michael Vick.

Chris Johnson or Chris Ivory could get moved and Johnson comes in with 268 yards in eight games this season. Johnson was acquired in the offseason and Ivory has been the more consistent option between the two backs so far this season. Smith has 10 interceptions and seven touchdowns and he has also been fumbling the ball constantly. Teams can afford to pick a quarterback sooner after drafting one in previous years because the new CBA keeps contract numbers limited and while Smith was picked to be the QB of the future, he surely doesn't look like that right now.
