The Tampa Bay Buccaneers may look at a Doug Martin trade at the NFL trading deadline on Tuesday, as the team has been terrible this year and teams like the Seattle Seahawks, NY Giants, Oakland Raiders, Minnesota Vikings, Baltimore Ravens or Miami Dolphins all could be interested and this comes as Lynch and the Seahawks have had some issues in the locker room this season.
According to ESPN.com, the Buccaneers are listening to offers for Martin, who was a first round pick a few years ago but has been banged up over the past season and a half. Martin had a fantastic rookie season with over 1400 yards rushing, but he missed 10 games last year and has not been as productive this season, averaging less than three yards per carry.
Martin comes in with 166 yards this season and while he has not been great, the Bucs could get a team to buy in on his potential. As a rookie Martin was a game changer with 1454 yards on the ground and 11 touchdowns and he also had 49 catches out of the backfield that season. Martin was a first round draft pick and after the way this season has gone, the Bucs may take less than that to get a deal done.
The Seahawks already made one major trade this season and while Marshawn Lynch has come up in trade rumors heading into the Tuesday deadline, head coach Pete Carroll said the running back will to be moved in 2014, but that doesn't mean his trade or release could come before the 2015 season after the reported issues with Russell Wilson and Percy Harvin.
The Seahawks are coming off of a close win against the Carolina Panthers and they now have gotten back on track after a couple of rough weeks. Percy Harvin was traded and now there are some reports that Marshawn Lynch could be in his final year with the team, as they have "grown tired" of his act, which includes a holdout and issues with the media.
The Seahawks have downplayed the discord going on in the locker room after reports came out over the last couple weeks about problems going on in the locker room with Wilson, Harvin and Lynch, with Carroll saying there are no issues. Harvin was traded after some diva type behavior and getting into fights with teammates and now Lynch could be the next name to go. Carroll said that Lynch won't be traded Tuesday, but according to Chris Mortensen at ESPN.com and Peter King at the MMQB, he could be moved or released in the future.
King writes that even if the Seahawks don't make a move at the deadline or during the season with Lynch, he will be gone next year as a cap casualty. Lynch held out this year because he likely knows this is coming and with Robert Turbin and Christine Michael getting drafted over the last couple years, the writing is on the wall for the Seahawks to make a move. Lynch is due $6.5 million next year and after the way things have gone, there's no way the Seahawks stick with that deal.
