The Seattle Seahawks and the Green Bay Packers are starting Week 1 the NFL season on Thursday night live from CenturyLink Field and the TV coverage is from NBC and streaming live from the NBCSN Live Extra website as the Super Bowl champions try to repeat in 2014 and they have a tough start with Aaron Rodgers and the Pack.
The Seahawks come into the game after playing well in the preseason and they went 13-3 last season and now are looking like the favorites for the Super Bowl. No team has made it back to the Super Bowl in back to back seasons in a while and this team has the chance to do it, as they have a top defense and a strong quarterback with Russell Wilson. This year Wilson should get even better and he is coming back with Percy Harvin fully healthy for the first time.
The team went 10-2 against the conference last season and 4-2 against their division and this now is a rematch of the crazy game from MNF when there was that controversial call at the end. The team was ranked in the top 10 in defense in passing yards and rushing yards allowed per game and they were ranked first with Richard Sherman and Earl Thomas in the secondary and now Thomas is going to use his skills as a punt returner.
The Seahawks start the season with the Packers and then they have two tough games with the Chargers and the Denver Broncos. The team then has a bye and has three of four games on the road, with the Dallas Cowboys coming at home between the Redskins on Monday night football, the Rams and the Panthers away. The team then has another tough stretch with the Raiders and Giants coming to Seattle before playing the Chiefs.
The Seahawks then have another tough stretch of three games in four weeks on the road, travelling to Kansas City before hosting Arizona. The team the has the Niners in two of three weeks, one away and one home and the team also has to travel to Philly. The Seahawk schedule is tough and it includes divisional games at the end, including the Cardinals and the Rams at home.
The Seahawks come into the game as favorites in the NFL and they are the champions of the league and that means everyone will be looking take them down. The Green Bay Packers have been picked my many in the media as Super Bowl favorites as they have a strong team returning with Aaron Rodgers and now they start the season with a very tough matchup against the Seahawks on the road.
The Seahawks defense is the best in the NFL and it's led by cornerback Richard Sherman along with Earl Thomas in that unit and once again they should be fantastic as the team tries to repeat, which is something that hasn't been done in years. The team should be one of the best again, but winning is tough two years in a row no matter who you are.
