Seattle Seahawks Trade Rumors: Marshawn Lynch Reports After Holdout As Move Possible Without New Contract?

The Seattle Seahawks are thrilled that running back Marshawn Lynch has ended his holdout and reported to training camp, but there is a chance a trade could happen in the future if the two sides cannot agree on a deal, as Lynch has his salary bumped up this season, but there is a chance he could still ask for a new deal in the future from the Hawks front office.

Pete Carroll said that he was glad Lynch was back in the fold after starting training camp without him and Pro Football Talk reported that Lynch had his salary for this season bumped up. According to the report, Lynch will have his salary for this year moved up after holding out, going from five to six mill after getting a $1 million bump and it comes after he had $500,000 in fines for missing time for training camp. Lynch also has performances bonuses in his contract and that could add more value to the deal, but the Seahawks stayed tight and did not give him more money later on or a new contract.

Last season Lynch had 1,257 yards and 12 touchdowns and was a major contributor for the Seahawks and now the future could be a bit cloudy. Lynch is a star and the team uses him as their workhorse, but they like what Christine Michael and Robert Turbin bring and while they are not players at the caliber of Lynch, the Seahawks likely would have no problem using them if he had to be moved or if he held out again in the future.

The 28 year old has nearly 40 touchdowns and 4,051 yards over the past three seasons and he has been as close to an MVP for the team as anyone. Lynch is getting older though and once he starts to creep near that 30 year mark, the Seahawks may have to make some hard choices. If Lynch holds out again or asks for a new deal, the team may not have much of a choice but to move him. While Michael and Turbin are not as experienced or as good, the Seahawks see plenty of potential in them and they could be solid options in the future.

Reports say that Turbin and Michael have been impressive in training camp and that is a promising development for the Seahawks. Last season the team made it to the Super Bowl and killed the Broncos and they were ranked fourth in the league in rushing with over 130 yards per game. The team returns most of their team from last season and having Lynch back is big if the team wants to repeat.
