The Dallas Cowboys passed on Johnny Manziel and now he is with the Cleveland Browns and many thought that Jerry Jones was going to trade for Manziel and now the team will stick with Tony Romo as the Browns get a new franchise QB and while a trade could have been crazy, the NFL has seen crazier moves than that in the past.

The Dallas Cowboys have been mentioned in trade rumors regarding Johnny Manziel, but owner Jerry Jones has said he has a good one already in Tony Romo and that he will resist taking the quarterback despite his Tim Tebow like star power and heading into the 2014 NFL draft, the Manziel to Cowboys rumors won't die, as Mike Mayock says that Jones will not be able to resist if he has the chance and everyone knows crazier things have happened in the past.

The Cowboys come into the season after signing Tony Romo previously to a mega contract and while that is one reason why the team may not draft Manziel, one could argue that the deal makes adding a quarterback even more necessary. The Cowboys want to "win now" since Romo is getting up there in age, but the team doesn't really have a future option in place and while they signed Brandon Weeden as a free agent, he is a backup option and not much else. The Cowboys have a number of needs and draft experts like Mel Kiper and Todd McShay have said that the team would be better off taking a player on defense or the offensive line over Manziel.

The questions surrounding Manziel make the draft a must-see event, as experts have predicted him going in the first three picks, the middle 10 picks and even falling out of the first round all together. The Cowboys have now said they aren't going to trade up from 16 to get Manziel, but let's say he slips past the tenth pick and then at number 12 with the Giants and number 13 with the St. Louis Rams. That could be a tipping point for Jones, who Mayock says will not be able to help himself if he can get his hands on Manziel.

The Cowboys can't move or cut Romo and that is their own faults, as the contract he signed has $42 million in dead money potentially and again, this is another reason why the team may want a legit backup option. If Romo goes down with a serious injury, the future becomes now for the Cowboys and Manziel could be an option if he somehow slips in the draft. Manziel has said that teams will "regret" not taking him and some have compared his situation to Tim Tebow, although no one thinks Manziel's skills are like Tebow's, as Manziel has shown he can throw a ball as good as anyone and is very accurate.

What Manziel has compared with Tebow is star power and the Cowboys love their stars and that is why Jones would love to have Manziel in the fold. Manziel is from Texas and having him wear the star in Dallas and playing in Jerry's World would be a dream for the franchise. Manziel put up some amazing numbers last year and the previous season in college and the biggest question is whether or not that can translate into the NFL and that is what scouts and team execs will have to live with.

Either way, when Manziel gets drafted, 31 other teams and their execs will have that feeling in their stomach, wondering if they just passed on the next NFL superstar.
