Montee Ball Fantasy Football: Denver Broncos RB Best Starter For Sunday Night Football Against Patriots Week 12

Nov 20, 2013 01:03 PM EST

The Denver Broncos running back situation has been a committee all season, but for fantasy owners looking for some scoring going forward into Week 12, a solid pick to start on Sunday is Montee Ball, as the team plays against the New England Patriots on Sunday night football.

Ball got off to a slow start this season, but he has seen an uptick in production with Ronnie Hillman taking a backseat and now he has three touchdowns in his past three games after setting the record for scores back when he was in college. For owners looking for a boost from the running back position, Ball could be a nice option, as he doesn't put up crazy yardage numbers, but he gets the playoff at the end of drives, as he has been a consistent goal line option for the Broncos over the past few weeks and that is likely to continue this week against the New England Patriots on the road.

Ball came into the season with high expectations and he has played solid with 222 yards on 68 carries and he has put himself above Hillman on the depth chart and now he could continue getting carries. Knowshon Moreno has been the feature back and while Ball won't light up the stat sheet, he comes up strong where it counts with the touchdowns and that could be a big value snag for fantasy owners if he can score again on Sunday night. Ball also had three catches for 16 yards on Sunday and that could be a factor going forward as well, as he could get more involved in the passing game too.

Ball had 25 yards on eight carries and scored two touchdowns against the Chiefs and that came after two solid games that saw him rush for over 50 yards and now he has three scores in the past three weeks after being held out of the endzone at the beginning of the season. This season Ball has five catches and three of those game last week and his touchdowns were impressive against the Chiefs, including a spin for a one yard score and a nice outside bounce for an eight yard touchdown and that was his long for the day and he also was targeted four times in the matchup.

Even with Moreno starting, Ball has justified getting attention and he could continue racking up points heading into the playoffs.
