The Chicago Blackhawks are coming off of a great Stanley Cup victory in dramatic fashion after defeating the Boston Bruins last year in the championship and they have already been off to a great start this year, as they are 5-1 on the season with 12 points and now they will visit the Panthers in Florida at the BB&T Center at 7:30 pm for a West-East conference matchup.

The Blackhawks have once again been one of the most consistent teams in the NHL since the season began, ranking in the top five in goals against and the top half of the league in both goals per game and power play percentage. The team is coming off of a nice win over the Maple Leafs and they will continue their Southern trip, as they play the Tampa Bay Lightning next on the schedule. The team has Brandon Saad as the leader in goals so far this season, while Patrick Kane is tops in goals and while names like Patrick Sharp and others have been off to slow starts, it hasn't shown in the standings.

This season new coach Patrick Roy has the Colorado Avalanche in the top of the Central division, which now has more teams after the realignment and they have been fantastic in his first season, winning eight games and also adding an OTL for 16 points and the Blackhawks are right behind. The team has won five games and lost one with two OTL for 12 points and they are up one of the Blues and Predators, who each have 11 points this season. Then is the Wild from Minnesota with nine, followed by the new Western team in the Winnipeg Jets, who have eight and then Dallas is last with six points. The Blackhawks have a target o their backs for being the champs and they know they will get the best from everyone this season.

The team will next play against the Lightning on the road after playing the Panthers and then they will return home for a home-and-home with the Wild and then the team will play against the Senators and then against the Jets on the road. The team will be home against the Flames and then on the road against the Jets and the Dallas Stars are next on the road before playing the Oilers and Coyotes at home. The Panthers have three wins this season and are ranked 25th in goals per game and 28th in goals against and that could mean a big game for the Hawks.

The Panthers are in the bottom half in power play and penalty kill percentage, while the Sabres are next for the team on the schedule. The game on Tuesday is at home for the Panthers and will be at the BB&T Center at 7:30 pm and the Chicago Blackhawks are making the trip south for the matchup.
