Aaron Hernandez Girlfriend Shayanna Jenkins Says Relationship Was Don't Ask Don't Tell With Murderer, TE Said To 'Get Rid Of' Box of Evidence After Odin Lloyd Shooting

The girlfriend and fiancé of accused murder Aaron Hernandez was in court on Tuesday in Fall River Superior Court in Massachusetts to answer charges of perjury in the murder case of Odin Lloyd and she answered a not guilty plea to the charges in the courtroom.

Jenkins was charged with one count of perjury last month in the case involving Hernandez, as she was accused by prosecutors of lying about disposing evidence to the grand jury in the case. According to ESPN.com, Jenkins pleaded not guilty at her arraignment and she was released on personal recognizance from the court after doing so. The court hearing provided some details in the case, as the prosecution accused Jenkins of lying about what she did with some evidence following the murder of Odin Lloyd.

The report says that she was told by Hernandez to "get rid of" a box containing possible evidence and investigators allege that she disposed of evidence in the case, as they saw her leave the home with a box in a large bag that was covered by baby clothes. The report says that she used her sister's car to leave with the box and then returned with it gone. The Boston Globe has the best run down of what happened, as they report that Jenkins testified before the grand jury that she did no remember where she went that day and that she dumped the box in a dumpster, but did not remember where it was.

Other reports have stated that Jenkins said she went to get baby formula and said that she did not remember where she went, although she was seen on an ATM camera that day in Plainville. The Globe report also alleges that she wanted a cleaning crew to sign nondisclosure agreements after coming to the house and also lied when she said to police that Lloyd sold drugs. Lloyd was found dead less than a mile from the home she shared with Hernandez in North Attleboro and her attorney Janice Bassil claimed that Jenkins said that the relationship between the two was a "don't ask, don't tell", which is why she did not ask about the box or anything else from the previous night.

Jenkins and Hernandez have been together since high school and now he is facing life in prison, while her perjury charges carry a 20 year sentence. The gun in the murder has not been found and police have looked into the possibility that she disposed of the murder weapon, searching a storage unit in the name of Jenkins.
