NY Knicks Rumors: Carmelo Anthony Ready For Championship Run As New York Gives Ricky Davis Workout

The New York Knicks are heading into a very anticipated season with Carmelo Anthony and company and as the team tries to finish building the roster before training camp, one familiar name could be joining up, as Rocky Davis has been given a workout by the team this week.

According to Pro Basketball Talk, Bleacher Report is reporting that the Knicks will give Davis a workout on Tuesday as part of a group of players that could get invitations to the upcoming training camp. The Knicks have dealt with a couple injuries down the stretch and while Davis likely won't make it on the team, it is a welcome chance for a former decent player to get back into the league.

Davis hasn't played in the NBA for a while and was in the D-league and also played internationally over the past few years and the last time he was in the league he played 36 games for the Clippers and averaged 4.4 points while shooting over 43 percent. Davis had some very good years with the Cavaliers and the Celtics and in 2002-03 he averaged a career high 20.6 points and played in 79 games.

ESPN.com says that Davis and Justin Brownlee, who played in the summer league, will be worked out for the Knicks and they could decide to add one or two of the players they work out. Last season the team won 54 games and Carmelo won the scoring title and now they have the chance to be even better, but getting out of the East will be no easy feat.

The Bulls will be better with Derrick Rose and the Pacers are also improved with Luis Scola and David West back. The Heat of course are champions and the Knicks will need to have a great season to make a deep run.
