The Los Angeles Lakers hopes of landing either big named stars LeBron James or Carmelo Anthony have broken apart in a matter of days with both players insisting they'd like to remain with the perspective teams.

It's still expected that the Lakers will land themselves a big player, but for now it won't be James or Anthony.

This comes in the wake of James saying he would rather finish his career in Miami.

"I have absolutely no idea. I would love to spend the rest of my career in Miami with this great team and great organization as we continue to compete for championships. That's ideal."

As for Anthony he made his stance clear during an interview with Bloomberg Television, saying he has no plans on leaving the New York Knicks.

"I'm not going nowhere" Anthony said during an interview Tuesday with Bloomberg Television's "Market Markers."

Anthony is on pace to make $23.3 million in the 2014-15 season, and the Knicks are the only team who could pay him that amount. Money aside, Anthony remains hungry to carry the Knicks win a title.

"That is one of the reasons why I wanted to come here to New York just so I could take on those pressures and those challenges'' Anthony said. "A lot of people do not like to deal with the pressure. A lot of people do not know how to deal with the challenges they face. To me it is everyday life.''

With an entire season left to be played it is expected that neither player would admit considering leaving for another team, but depending on the outcome of this season, time will may reveal a change in their mind state come the summer of 2014.

The Lakers would relish in the moment to have both players sign to their organization, but even just one would suffice.
