The Miami Heat have announced Wednesday that they've signed forward Michael Beasley, thus marking his return to the team that drafted him during the 2008 NBA Draft.

Beasley was the No. 2 pick in 2008 but was traded to the Minnesota Timberwolves in the summer of 2010 in order to clear cap space for LeBron James, Dwayne Wade and Chris Bosh.

"Michael had the best years of his career with us," said HEAT President Pat Riley. "We feel that he can help us."

During his season with the Heat he appeared in 159 games (97 starts) all while averaging  14.3 points, 5.9 rebounds, 1.2 assists and 27.3 minutes while shooting 46.1 percent from the field. In his two seasons in Miami, Beasley helped guide the HEAT to two consecutive postseason berths, appearing in 12 playoff games (four starts) and averaging 11.4 points and 6.7 rebounds while shooting 40.9 percent from the field.

He has a career high of 42 points a guy who once put up 22 points and 15 rebounds in a playoff game a guy who has a 34.5 percent career mark from 3 but has shot 36.6 percent or better from deep in three out of his five career seasons.

Beasley was waived by the Phoenix Suns last week Tuesday after reaching a buyout on the remaining two years of his contract. It is believed that his arrest on suspicion of marijuana possession in August that may have been the push the Suns needed to want to move in a different direction.

Beasley was owed $6 million by Phoenix in 2013-14 and $6.25 million in 2014-15 but only $3 million of his '14-15 deal was guaranteed. Beasley agreed to a $7 million buyout with the Suns according to Sports 620 KTAR in Phoenix.
