Vincent Brown and Danny Woodhead Fantasy Sleepers For San Diego Chargers In Week 2

Sep 09, 2013 06:37 PM EDT

The San Diego Chargers and the Houston Texans are playing on Monday night football and some of the top sleepers for the game on the Chargers side are Vincent Brown and Danny Woodhead, two players that could put up big points in PPR leagues.

Brown is coming in after Danario Alexander was lost for the season and he could end up with some solid production after stepping in as the number two receiver behind Malcom Floyd. Brown has 10 career receptions and he is expecting to be much more involved, especially after Floyd dealt with a knee sprain in the preseason and he could be limited.

Woodhead comes over from the Patriots and could step up big if Ryan Mathews goes down again like he always does and in PPR league he could be a stud out of the backfield. Woodhead has shown that he can be very productive out of the backfield and with McCoy looking to get the offense more efficient, he could play a big part. There are plenty of other sleepers from week 1 heading into Week 2 and here is some information on some of those players as well.

The fantasy football season is now up and going for real and owners all over will be looking for the best value heading into the season and some of the top sleeper players at wide receiver include Kenbrell Thompkins, Vincent Brown, Ryan Broyles, TY Hilton, Aaron Dobson, Rueben Randle and Robert Woods as well as Chris Givens.

Kenbrell Thompkins and Vincent Brown could be two of the biggest sleepers at the position this season, especially Thompkins after Wes Welker left the Patriots for the Broncos. Thompkins and Aaron Dobson will be relied on by Tom Brady without Rob Gronkowski and Aaron Hernandez out for Week 1 and after playing well in the preseason, Thompkins could end up as one of the best rookie wideouts in the league.

Thompkins ended up catching eight passes for over 110 yards in the third preseason game against the Detroit Lions and he could be a very valuable player late in drafts this season. Vincent Brown will be expected to step up for the Chargers after Danario Alexander was injured and lost for the season and with Philip Rivers coming back from a tough season, he will need Brown and the other wideouts to step up. Alexander was expected to be a number one contributor to the team this season and with Mike McCoy looking to be more high powered on offense it was a big blow to lose him.

Alexander made 37 catches last season for 658 yards and seven touchdowns without even spending the whole season with the team and the Chargers really need Brown to be good after releasing Robert Meachem, finally admitting that San Diego was simply not a fit. Meachem was due $5 million and the team cut him anyway and things really took a turn when he dropped an easy TD pass in a game and he ended up with just 14 catches for 207 yards on the season in 2012. The Chargers running game might be much improved if Ryan Mathews can stay on the field and with Danny Woodhead in the fold now, Brown could have some opportunities to shine.
