Jose Mourinho says Chelsea won't be allowed to put an improved bid for Wayne Rooney until after they play Manchester United next week.
It has been revealed that United will be willing to do a deal as long as they can bring in a suitable replacement.
"I don't want Chelsea to do it before we go there," Mourinho said after last night's win against Aston Villa.
"Everybody in the club, in the board, they agree with me. We share that opinion. There is (a) time to do things.
"I think this period, by the ethical point of view, is a period where we're going to be quiet and thinking just about that game."
Mourinho has not given up his pursuit to add a new striker to his ranks as he said: "We will keep trying because when the market is open official bids are not forbidden. You try because nobody forbids you to try.
"We have conditions to try to improve our team with one more player. But we do have a Plan B and a Plan C."
Mourinho previously said he'll continue his pursuit for Rooney until the transfer window closes, showing dedication to making the striker his newest edition.
"We will try until the last day to add a new player to the squad a striker but in this moment every striker has a club every striker belongs to somebody and I don't think it's ethical that I name players that belong to other clubs" said Mourinho following Chelsea's 2-0 defeat of Hull on his return to Stamford Bridge on Sunday.
