Real Madrid Transfer Rumors: Tottenham's Daniel Levy To Accept £93m To Send Gareth Bale To Spanish Giants By The Weekend

Aug 21, 2013 08:06 AM EDT

It appears that the Gareth Bale transfer saga is coming to a close as Real Madrid are reported to be close to finally landing the Tottenham forward after making an improved transfer bid of £93million plus Fabio Coentrao.

Madrid has been pursuing Bale all summer and have already seen their world record £85million bid rejected for the Welshman.

However, even after manager Carlo Ancelotti was quoted saying early in the week that he felt the deal was dead, an improved offer was made on Monday evening and it appears to be enough to seal the deal.

Earlier in the week Madrid revealed a hint that they would be expecting Bale in the near future by reserving the vacant No.11 shirt for the Tottenham midfielder.

The No.11 previously was held by Ricardo Cavalho last season, but with his departure for Monaco the shirt remains vacant.

The deal is reportedly worth £100million to Spurs with £93million being paid in cash while wing-back Coentrao - valued at £7million - has also been thrown into the package as a sweetener.  Reports in Spain claim that Spurs chairman Daniel Levy has given the deal his approval and should be completed by the weekend.

Levy meanwhile is close to securing a Bale replacement, with Anzhi winger Willian set to join in a £30million deal, while talks are ongoing with Roma over Erik Lamela.
