After plenty of rumors this offseason with Brandon Jennings and whether the Bucks will sign him to a multi-year extension, Milwaukee has decided to ship the star point guard to the Detroit Pistons, a deal that has been rumored for quite some time and now is finally going through.

According to Yahoo Sports, the Bucks will complete a sign and trade deal with the Pistons for Jennings on a three-year, $24 million deal and possible players that are moving may include Brandon Knight, Rodney Stuckey or Charlie Villanueva among other players or money that could be involved in the deal.

The Detroit Pistons made one of the biggest surprise moves of the offseason after swaying Hawks free agent Josh Smith to sign with the team and after adding former point guard Chauncey Billups, the team has signed its draft picks in Kentavious Caldwell-Pope and Tony Mitchell.

According to ESPN.com, the Pistons signed the number eight pick Kentavious Caldwell-Pope after selecting him out of Georgia and Mitchell, who was selected in the second round out of North Texas. The team has high hopes for Pope after taking him out of Georgia as a sophomore and he is coming off a fantastic final season in college, in which he averaged 18.5 points per game and won the SEC player of the year. Mitchell was taken in the second round after averaging 13 points and over eight rebounds per game as a sophomore as well. Peyton Siva is still unsigned and the Pistons are working to get that deal done next. The team also lost Jason Maxiell to the Orlando Magic after he spent the past eight seasons with the team, averaging just under seven points with 5.7 rebounds per game.

Smith was the top player for the Hawks last season and he averaged 17.5 points, 8.4 rebounds and 3.8 assists per game in his final year with the team. Smith was the prize of the offseason for Dumars and while teams have called about the possibility of a trade involving Andre Drummond, the general manager has said that he is untouchable, while Greg Monroe possibly isn't, but he is also a major part of the future core of the team. The Pistons were also mentioned in rumors about Rajon Rondo and Brandon Jennings, but neither of those deals ever materialized into any serious talks.

Jennings was an option since he is having a tough time coming to terms on a contract with the Bucks as a restricted free agent and any deal would be a sign and trade. The Pistons have Charlie Villanueva's expiring contract and Rodney Stuckey has been mentioned in some deal rumors as well, although it appears now that Dumars will sit tight with the primary roster he has assembled, including Drummond and Monroe. Smith was the only big name free agent that Detroit had a chance to sign and while it doesn't make the team a championship contender, it surely puts them in contention for a playoff spot in the East.

Point guard Brandon Knight was rumored in a possible deal with the Pistons and the Boston Celtics, but now it likely will be him at point guard along with shooting guard Kentavious Caldwell-Pope, who just signed after being taken with the number eight overall pick in the draft. Dumars is hoping to return back to the perennial playoff days of some years ago when the team won the NBA finals and he brought back Chauncey Billups to help do that, as he won MVP when the team won the championship. The last time Dumars spent money, it was on Villanueva and Ben Gordon and after spending $55 million on the two of them, Gordon was eventually traded to the Bobcats and Villanueva has been rumored to be in the same boat as he has an expiring deal this season.
