The Denver Nuggets were hopeful about getting something back in their sign and trade deal with the Warriors for Andre Iguodala and after some maneuvering, the team will do a separate deal to get Randy Foye in return as well as some salary relief.
According to ESPN.com, the Nuggets are involved in separate deals to get Randy Foye from the Utah Jazz and to send Iguodala to the Warriors, which will be official on Wednesday. The AP reported that the Warriors were going to sign the star to a four-year, $48 million deal as a free agent, but now the restructuring allows for the Warriors to have more room with the cap and will give Denver a $9 million trade exception. The Warriors will clear $24 million in money for Richard Jefferson, Andris Biedrins and Brandon Rush to the Jazz as well as draft picks and their expiring contracts are valuable to Utah.
Foye will now sign a three year deal for $9 million when he is traded and the Jazz will get 2014 and 2017 first-round picks from the Warriors. Foye comes over after a solid season and Denver is hoping that he will play like he did with Toronto back in '09 when he averaged 16.3 points, 4.3 assists and 3.1 rebounds per game. He played with the Wolves, Clippers, Wizards and Jazz before the deal. Golden State gets back Kevin Murphy and Denver takes on a trade exception that they can use for the next year.
