The 2013 U.S. Open golf championship is set to get underway on Thursday and for people still looking for tickets, good luck, because they are sold out and the prices are very expensive, with some going between $285-$330 and higher as the event gets closer to starting.
According to Yahoo Sports, tickets are sold out for the event since Sunday and all official tickets have been sold, although badges can be purchased on sites like StubHub and others for over $1,000. Some individual badges can be purchased for less, but many are very pricy for the event, which begins on Thursday morning and will run to the weekend.
Kids under 12 can come for free with an adult and other tickets can be purchased for $15 for practice rounds and $35 for championship rounds for kids of teen aged years. Merion is looking like a tough ticket for fans and the players, as some are going for double and triple the price they should. Many people will want to watch the grouping of Tiger Woods, Rory McIlroy and Adam Scott, who is fresh off his Masters win, while Tiger will be looking for his first major since 2008 when he won the Open.
The 113th Open will be special for many reasons, including the tight Merion course and tee times begin very early on Thursday and the event will run till Sunday with weather permitting. Ardmore is about 30 minutes outside of Philly and the course has experience with these majors, as it has held 17 USGA championships, more than any course. Woods is looking to break his major drought since 2008 and add his 15th trophy and he will try to do it after all the Sergio Garcia hoopla from the Players and his racist friend chicken comments, for which he tried to apologize to Woods for.
