Chris Gayle shattered records and may have solidified himself as the most devastating batsman in Twenty20 cricket after ending with 17 maximums (worth a total of 102 runs), another record, and a further 13 fours, according to Yahoo! Sports.

He reached his extraordinary record in just 30 deliveries, was four balls quicker than the fastest-recorded ton in limited-overs cricket, hit by Andrew Symonds for Kent against Middlesex in 2004.

The 33-year-old Jamaican looked shocked himself, dropping to his knees after bringing up his hundred with a six.

"I'm lost for words myself," said Gayle, speaking at the interval, having been applauded off by the opposition.

"I started really well, I went berserk and it paid off.

"We've got a decent total, and I'm really happy with my performance.

"I'm a bit hungry now, so hopefully I'm going to go and get something to eat."

At the end of the Royal Challengers Bangalore's innings, Gayle was 175 from just 66 balls and his team's total was 263 for five. His innings included 13 fours and 17 sixes. His strike rate was 265.15.
