Ryan Giggs Hails Ferguson Influence; Rooney Believes English Premier League Title was Well Deserved

Ryan Giggs praised Sir Alex Ferguson for helping Manchester United win their 20th league title - 13th in the English Premier League -- saying the manager is the club.

Robin Van Persie was the main man for United yet again, as the striker struck a hat-trick against Aston Villa at Old Trafford to give the home side the three points that they needed to clinch the title over their cross-town rivals Manchester City.

United have been at their ruthless best this season, after the disappointment from last year when Manchester City claimed the title on the last day of the season on goal difference. And Giggs has no doubts about the fact that the success is all down to one man - Sir Alex Ferguson.

"His appetite is second to none," the 39-year-old said. "Every day he's at the training ground, he's first there, his enthusiasm is brilliant and that feeds through the club. He is the club.

"Everything comes from the manager getting players in, getting the right staff in and he's just an unbelievable manager and an unbelievable person. He deserves everything that he gets because he works hard. I've been very lucky to play under him for so long."

Giggs admitted to being extremely happy with the dominating manner in which United won back the title from City.

"It's obviously special," he added. "When you lose it in the manner that we did last year, to win it back is something special -- especially putting on a show with the way we played tonight.

"We did it in style, so it's really pleasing.

"I think the strength in depth (won us the title), really. We had a lot of injuries early on, in the centre half positions especially and once we got that sorted we looked really solid.

"From Christmas onwards we've looked really good, and once you've got that platform of defence, and with the flair players we've got, you're always in with a chance."

Wayne Rooney, who was outstanding for United in the first half, feels the title was fully deserved. "It's what we worked all year for and we've fully deserved it," Rooney told Sky Sports. "We won this game in the first half and it is a fantastic night for us.

"When you lose the title, it's hard to take and the way we did it wasn't a nice feeling last time so we've all dug in deep and all worked together and done fantastic to put ourselves in the position tonight to finish the job off.

"You know how football is so you never take anything for granted so we worked hard and thankfully now it's done.

"The manager has great desire and a winning mentality. We all buy into that and want to do well for the club."
