The NY Yankees are dealing with a ton of injuries right now and a trade for names like Brandon Phillips Trade, Dan Uggla, Pete Kozma, Nick Franklin and Didi Gregorius could be in the mix for Brian Cashman to deal for, as Mark Teixeira, Francisco Cervelli, Brian Roberts and Brian McCann have all been dealing with injury issues recently.

According to ESPN.com, the Yankees placed backup catcher Francisco Cervelli on the DL and that comes after Mark Teixeira already hit the disabled list, forcing the Yankees to shuffle things around in the field with Kelly Johnson. Roberts was not as seriously injured, but he has been dealing with injuries over the past four years and now his back has cropped up again and with Cervelli out, the team needed to bring up players from the minors, as he was serving as the backup first baseman as well.

The team needs to try and stay afloat while dealing with the injuries and making a trade could be the best way to handle things, especially if someone else goes down. So far Derek Jeter has been healthy, but he sat two days last week and with Brendan Ryan on the DL, the team sure could use some support at the position as well. Jeter played in just a handful of games last year and now he is coming back after serious surgery and he may need more time off than he wants to admit.

According to ESPN.com, Yankees owner Hal Steinbrenner quashed any thoughts of the team signing Stephen Drew, as he is a free agent that is still on the market. The team was rumored to be looking at Drew to help with the injuries and to avoid using rookies Yangervis Solarte and Dean Anna so much, but the owner said he is, liking the way things are going so far the Yankees don't want to give up a draft pick to sign him and the report says that he is asking for too much money as well.

Cervelli could be out for over a month and he has a Grade 2 hamstring strain and that means it could be a long DL stint and that puts the Yankees in a tough position. They brought up Scott Sizemore and could use Austin Romine and they also need to figure out what to do with Johnson on those other days or when he needs off. Pete Kozma was demoted to the minors for the Cardinals and he could be an option for a number of teams after the way he has struggled offensively. Kozma played for the Cardinals at short in the World Series, but now he is in the minors.

A trade for Brandon Phillips was rejected earlier in the offseason, while the team also could look at Dan Uggla, who has been struggling mightily over the past two seasons with the Braves. Atlanta would love to trade him, while the Seattle Mariners have Nick Franklin on a tear in the minors. The team could bring him up themselves after Logan Morrison was injured and he can play both second and short and has been very solid since coming down to start the season.
